Hand Analysis and YOU!

Have you heard of Beth Davis, "The Hand Analyst"?

If not, then you definitely need to know that she exists!

She does non-predictive, scientific palmistry (known as "hand analysis")

So You Want to Go Raw? Stage 2 - Clearing the Way: "Too Busy"

Last week we looked at the practical issues around going raw - the whys and the whats predominantly. You achieved so much, perhaps saw where you may have gone wrong in the past, or, as I've heard through various emails and phone conversations, perhaps you embarked on this for the very first time using the 5-day plan as your guide.

Here, now at Stage Two of the journey, we're going to spend the rest of the week and all of next looking at all of the perceived or real obstacles that are most likely get in your way when trying to go (or stay) raw.

So You Want to Go Raw? Part 5: Create A Menu to Live For

Well done and congratulations on getting to Day 5!

Today is a great day indeed because today you get to pull all of the pieces together and have a ball imagining all of the great foods and meals you're going to be moving forward with. You also get a FREE mini e-book about menu planning that is well worth persevering for!

Today's assignment is going to be pretty lengthy - there's simply no way around that - however, I know that you're going to love it, thank me for it and be sooo glad you carried on even though you might feel a very strong pull to distract yourself and not go the final mile.

I don't want you to leave now, and I'll tell you why: You're a winner already. You're here and you're game. If you've completed Days 1-4 then you're ready, willing and able, and this means it's your time. Why stop now? It's Day 5 of 5, the weekend is almost here, this is the best bit so far, and if you're in the UK then you have Bank Holiday Monday to look forward to as well as the next two days off!

That said, I have a feeling that it's going to take you today and the weekend to really get to grips with this one, but what's 3 days out of your life (and only fractions of them at that), when you're going to come away with a winning plan that will get your eating habits bang on track and have you all set for Phase 2 of the big journey?

As tempting as it may be to drop the baton now, I urge you not to listen to that voice of self-sabotage! Taking this step now, fully and completely, will make ALL the difference between you playing at this and you really making it happen. Trust me!

So You Want to Go Raw? Part 4: Choosing Your "Vital" Ingredients

So it's Day 4 of 5 of Stage One on your Journey to Rawdom. How are you feeling? Hopefully at this juncture you have a feeling that things are starting to make sense, are coming together inch by inch and you have a very safe feeling around what you are doing, perhaps for the first time to date, and a certain sense of calm may be enveloping you, knowing that you are approaching your raw eating habits in a very down-to-earth and ultimately doable way. If not so far, then hopefully after today's little exercise that will come.

By this point you should have completed your assignments for Days 1, 2 and 3 and be feeling pretty pleased with yourself. If you've got this far, well done and I do hope you are rewarding yourself appropriately? That's just as important!

Today is a very good day indeed : ) You get to think about food and indulge yourself in thoughts of all the raw foods you truly love. This is the day when you start to realise just how easy this can be, and how diverse, delicious, fun and interesting too!

So, if you're ready for foody-thoughts and Assignment 4, let's get to it!

So You Want to Go Raw? Part 3: Your Goal in Sight

Day 3 of Stage One on your Journey to Rawdom and I’m assuming (correctly, I hope ; ) that you’ve completed the two exercises from Days 1 and 2? If not, then the same rules apply, go back and don’t revisit this page until you have! (Yes, I’m a hard taskmaster, but I only have your best interests at heart, you know that : )

By this point you should be feeling good about yourself and quietly excited as you see some semblance of something useful coming together, even though you don’t yet have all the pieces. So today you get the third piece of the puzzle, or, more appropriately, the third ‘tool’ to go in your backpack before your journey truly begins, and that is clarity on where you want to go.

On Monday you unearthed the passion, yesterday you got clear on the time available to spend on your journey, by the end of today you’ll have the location on the map!

So You Want to Go Raw? Part 2: Your Daily Routine

Welcome to Day 2 of Stage One on your Journey to Rawdom. If you haven’t completed yesterday’s exercise then please do not attempt to do this second one until you have, as you simply mustn’t skip what is quite undoubtedly the most important step of all.

So when you’ve completed it *and not before!* come back to this exercise which I’m hiding from you on the next page! No cheating now!

If you’ve done it, congratulations, how do you feel? If you’re not revved and raring to go then perhaps you didn’t fully embrace what I shared with you about finding your big why? If this is the case, I encourage you to revisit yesterday’s post and dig that bit deeper. If you’re keen, you must persevere, it should (and will) set your world on fire!

So You Want to Go Raw? Part 1: Your Big Why

The Journey to Rawdom can be a very long and winding one, especially if you don't have an experienced guide accompanying you. In fact, my own journey took five years to go raw in the first place (it doesn't have to take this long!), and I've spent the remaining eight years analysing and making sense of all the ins-and-outs so that I can distill them into simple wisdom and how-to steps and hand them over to others walking this path.

As spring is very much in the air, many of you now, especially those of you new to raw food or those who have been dabbling for a few weeks, months or even years, may be feeling particularly inspired to get going or put more effort into finally going raw.

With this in mind, I have decided that it's the perfect time to offer you the opportunity to work with me (free, through this blog) to start the journey towards making raw food a part of your life forever.

Over the next few weeks I'll be posting a coaching exercise every Monday through Friday (we all deserve the weekend off!) which will help you create - step-by-easy-step - a raw food lifestyle that works for you and your life the way it is today.

In the first part of this special coaching project, we'll be starting right at ground zero. The early questions may appear basic but your answers will be far reaching - just trust the process!

The Importance of Environment - Part 3: Your Office

So, we've looked at your internal environment, and then we moved out to the next port of call - your kitchen (which feeds your internal environment), so the next stop, I think, should be where you probably spend the majority of your daily life - at work, most likely in an office.

Until a month ago I worked from just one office, and that was in my home. It's a great space generally, not least because I love my home and its location, but also I have a great view out of my office window across the fens and all the way to Ely Catchedral. Since I moved here at the end of July 2005 my office has continued to evolve as I have and more recently I got it well and truly serving me to a level previously unknown.

Every inch of the office was tidy, had a purpose, looked great and everything visible focussed me on the job in hand and supported my overall 'mission'. The result? A feeling of peace, clarity and being 'sorted' which was completely inspiring.

More recently, when I moved into another larger office (more later) I was called to create a little piece of heaven all over again.

So with all that I have learned, and in a bid to have you feeling as mentally nourished as physically, here's my top tips for how to create an office space that serves and delights you...

The Importance of Environment - Part 2: Your Kitchen

Following on from the last post, this time we're here to address your external environment - and remember - we're aiming for a 10!

In line with the one reason we're all here - a passion for raw and living foods - let's start by looking at the environment that will most support your lifestyle choice - your kitchen. In future posts we'll move on to other rooms of your home, but for now let's start in the food dept. which is where it all begins.

First things first, ask yourself: "How well does my kitchen currently support my desire to choose raw?"

No need to get emotional about it ; ) simply cast your eye around your kitchen for a moment and I'm guessing that quite quickly it will become clear that there's more than a couple of ways that your kitchen could be set up to better serve you and your health goals - and you may very well also discover a number of ways that it might be currently undermining your efforts? (e.g. Disorganised, food laid out in plain sight that you really don't want to eat, a fridge full of 'treats', saucepans on show vs. juicer in cupboard ...need I go on?!).

The Importance of Environment - Part 1: Your Inner Terrain

Be prepared for a post with passion, because this is a subject very close to my heart and one that, I hope, will impact you and your life forever : )

Environment. That is the surroundings we choose to place ourselves in. (Yes, we do get to choose!)

So, how much of your environment is created consciously and how much of it fills you with glee?

Ideally the answer to both of the above should be "all of it", but my guess is that in more than a few ways it may very well not be? If this is the case, don't fret, it's 'normal'. But the purpose of this post today is to bring home to you two things:

1) Why you should only ever make your environment "a ten"

2) How you can do that

To begin this foray into all things environmental, for today and for the purpose of this post, we're going to bring the subject very close to home. So close in fact that we're going to start with the internal and then, in the next post, extend just beyond that to our immediate everyday surroundings.
