Choosing to introduce more raw and living foods into your diet can take you into a whole new world – an exciting and endlessly fascinating one of pure, living food that has the ability to unleash the energy, clarity and vitality that is your birth right, and that can – and will – be yours when you choose life!
My own experience of going raw age 20 was that I felt SO much better almost immediately, in spite of growing up on an almost exclusively junk-food diet! That feeling of well-being continued and grew exponentially as the weeks and months went by.
So how big a change can you expect if you bring in, say, an extra salad and a few more pieces of fruit into your diet every day?
Well, let me start by saying this: It’s as much about what you leave out as what you put in.
Allow me to illustrate:
Sarah and Susan are twins who both eat half their daily diet as raw foods. They eat exactly the same raw foods in the same ways and at the same time of day. However, Sarah chooses to eat junk food the rest of the time. She eats fried foods, white flour products like bread and pasta, loves her cheese, and also drinks coffee regularly and has a glass of wine most evenings.
Susan, on the other hand, chooses to eat “healthy” cooked foods the rest of the time, including organic baked potatoes with lightly steamed vegetables and perhaps a homemade bean or veggie-based dish, or buckwheat pasta with freshly-made tomato sauce and wholemeal bread.
You get the idea. Sarah and Susan are eating the same amount of raw foods but the rest of the time, their diet couldn’t be more different. Guess who feels better?
It’s a no-brainer, right? So there’s part of your answer.
The other part lies in taking into account how well you’re treating yourself in other areas of your life (rest, sleep, exercise, fresh air and sunlight, self-care etc.) and how you lived in the past. For instance, if you’ve struggled ongoingly with health issues and/or medications, you may take longer to feel measurably better than those who haven’t. It really is a very personal journey and not always easy to predict as there are so many variables.
So it’s about what you leave out as well as what you bring in, and it’s about your health history profile. You will see the benefits though, in untold ways, many of which are yet to be revealed!
So what changes can you expect? Well, apart from the possibility of discovering a world of taste you never knew existed before, here’s what is possible for you when you adopt a raw food lifestyle:
- More energy
- Reaching your natural weight
- Natural detoxification of the body
- Dramatic reduction of the chance of disease
- Clear, youthful skin and eyes that sparkle
- Sharper concentration
- Functioning at your peak
- Rejuvenation or even reversal of the signs of ageing
- Strengthened immune system
And that’s just the beginning. If you’re committed to putting in some work, you can potentially benefit in these ways and many more.
“Going raw” will affect your life only to the degree that you allow it to. You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to, but if you would like to stretch yourself a little, gradually introducing more raw food into your diet and keeping your cooked choices healthy in the meantime, you can feel EVEN BETTER than you could ever expect.
