"The Rawkathon" has Launched!

Today is a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT DAY!

My friend and colleague Kevin Gianni (of Raw Summit fame) today unveils to the world "The Rawkathon". If you thought Raw Summit was fantastic, this will blow you away.

Long story short this week-long online 100% FREE event features 14 raw and living foods experts from the USA and one from the UK...

That's right! There I am in the middle, VERY excited to be part of this.

Just look at the amazing line up Kevin has brought together...

This event will FOR SURE be way bigger than Raw Summit. Where Raw Summit comprised of teleseminars played one per night for a week or more, this event comprises of HOUR LONG VIDEOS, played two per night for a week with a bonus session from Happy Oasis, founder of the Raw Spirit Festival.

Now, while this is exciting enough, what makes this event TRULY special is that the interviews go way deeper than the usual "what do you eat?" and "why did you go raw?"

Obviously having given an interview myself I know that Kevin put a LOT of time and attention (and love, actually) in to creating something really different here, and the questions he asked were the type that can only evoke fascinating and oftentimes DEEP answers. At least this was the case for me.

I actually ended up sharing some stuff about me that only a few of my closest friends and clients know about me. I just felt moved to do so, and hope that what I shared is helpful, inspiring and comforting. Hopefully you'll get to find out!

Signing up for this event is, to me, a no brainer! Even if you only get to see ONE of the 15 interviews, I have no doubt it will be worth every minute of your time.

Hola!

Right now I’m working away like a crazy thing, hence the second big long silence! If you receive Successfully Raw you’ll be almost up to speed, but if not, it goes a little something like this:

1) I’m working on some truly amazing new FREEBIES for my web site that will be ready in just a week or two and they’re my best EVER

2) My new web site (a second site, not a replacement) is also only a couple of weeks away and is looking AMAZING! If you were at Raw Spirit a couple of weeks ago you already know what it is, and for everybody else I’ll be making the big announcement really soon so you can see what all the fuss is about. (Let me tell you, all this waiting and hard work has really been worth it and you'll love it!)

3) I’m at an exciting point in the achievement of a lifelong dream that means the world to me. While I can’t spill all the (mung) beans just yet, I can tell you that it connects New York, London and bookshops : ) Pah, I almost let the cat out of the bag, but not quite! More soon...

Acrylamide: The Story Continues

High acrylamide levels found in leading food brands - September 17, 2008

A new report by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) has identified high levels of the suspected carcinogen, acrylamide, in a number of leading food products, reports the Daily Mail.

The FSA report is based on a three-year study measuring levels of acrylamide in a range of foods. The report notes that the chemical has the “potential to cause cancer even at very low levels of exposure”.

Among the products found to contain elevated levels of acrylamide were Hula Hoops, Pringles, Ryvita and Duchy Original crisps. The highest readings for acrylamide were found in Tesco own-label potato rings, followed by Duchy Originals vegetable crisps. Among fast food chain products tested, levels were highest in chips from KFC, ahead of McDonald’s and Burger King.

Some of the companies whose products have been highlighted have criticised the FSA for going public on is findings, insisting that they have been working hard to lower acrylamide levels.

• Acrylamide has been demonstrated to cause cancer in animals, leading to concerns that it may potentially have the same effect in humans. High temperature cooking methods are known to increase acrylamide levels in starch-rich food and food regulators have been encouraging food firms to ensure that acrylamide levels are kept to a practical minumum. However, there are no legal limits for acrylamide in food.
