So I was sitting there thinking one night earlier this week...
"When am I going to have a truly Raw, truly Christmassy dinner again?"
Now, by this I don't mean a durian which is my usual Christmas Dinner of choice! But one that looks and tastes like the one that we grew up with - you know, meat (or nut roast), potatoes, stuffing, mince pies... the lot! It's not that I especially loved the food or would want to eat it every day, but you know how we each have our own cellular and emotional memories of such times. The food, the conversation, the laughter, the celebration, the abundance. Well, I'm no different and decided it would be fun to organise one... and not just for myself!
Enter the AHA MOMENT!
Some of you will know that Russell James and I ran the UK's first ever UK Raw Food Dinner Parties from my home back in early 2006 when I ran The Fresh Network. Well, I decided it was time to relight the fire - so to speak! - and revisit our winning combination for an extra special Dinner Party to end all Dinner Parties! The All-Raw Christmas Feast 2007.
Thankfully, Russell agreed - what a star! And so read on if you'd like to be one of just 9 people who get to have a seat at our special Christmas Dinner Party evening on Saturday 22nd December 2007 near Ely, Cambridgshire.
Take it away Chef Russell...
I've been a little overwhelmed by the response to my upcoming training, where I'll be showing you how to be your own raw food chef, and also showing you how to put on a raw food Christmas Feast (not to mention, actually making that Christmas Feast for everyone at the event to experience!).
I have actually been inundated with requests, from people who can't be there, who have been asking if they can get the recipes or DVD/CD of the event. I seem to be getting a lot of emails from my eZine readers in the US, who desperately want to eat my Christmas Feast meal... I really must plan to come and do a class out there very soon! :-)
So...I'm very grateful to everyone who has expressed an interest, even if you can't make it. But where does that leave everyone in the UK who still wants my Christmas Feast? Well, I was having a conversation with Karen the other night, on this very subject, and she suggested that we put on a Raw Food Christmas Feast at her house!
So that's what we're going to do...
On Saturday 22nd December we inviting you to come to Karen's house, in the beautiful, rural surrounding of Ely, Cambs.
You'll be treated to a raw Christmas dinner to remember, amongst a group of like-minded people, making new friends and taking home all the recipes you've tasted during the evening.
Here's the menu for the evening:
*** Kilted Sausages *** Sage & Apple stuffing *** Cranberry & Pomegranate Sauce *** Mushroom Gravy *** Herb-Infused Mashed Sweet Potatoes *** Crumbed Portabella Meatloaf *** Mince Tart with Cashew Cream & Spiced Eggnog Sauce
I'm particularly proud of the dessert!
If this sounds like something you'd like to experience, please book up as soon as you can! Without sounding like some limited-time-special-offer-marketing-thing, we really do only have a very limited amount of space in Karen's house (9 seats, that's all as one is reserved for Karen!!).
Remember, you'll be getting recipes for all the food you tasted during the evening, which will even leave you time to shop for and create some or all of the meal for your family on Christmas day.
Click here to book your place for just £49 pp - includes entire menu, a full set of recipes to take away, 5+ hours of fantastic company and... as if that wasn't enough... your chance to spend time in the company of both Karen and I picking up top tips and gossip which can only be a wonderful thing!

Back to me (Karen)!
OK, so just to be clear, this is mostly Russell's event so it will be him you'll be booking with. It's simply my home that's the venue and I daresay I shall also be hostessing a little, chatting a lot and maybe even pulling a cracker! But that's it :) ... Oh, nearly forgot the eating part! It's Russell that will be doing all the slaving over a hot dehydrator (okay, warm...). And yes, the food is all raw and vegan, don't be confused by the "sausages" bit!
So... please don't wait on this if this sounds like something you want to be a part of. As far as I know it's the only event of its kind happening anywhere in the UK, maybe even Europe? So these 9 places will be gone in no time at all and that's for sure!
So book now and secure yourself a place at possibly the most coveted table in England (!) on Saturday 22nd December. House open from 7pm and, going on past events of a similar nature, the evening is likely to run on until midnight or just after. We do like to chat! Be there!
UPDATE: Sunday 2 December - 4 places remaining

Karen,
If you're coming over this way sometime, especially if you're in New York, perhaps you'd consider skipping across the border to Toronto, Ontario, too. The raw community here is growing in leaps and bounds. I'd love to see you in person - Russell, too!
From Karen: Hi Marsa... I have considered Canada often.. we shall see; perhaps this is one for 2009!

Hi . This sounds fantastic. I wish I could come along, but have family commitments that day. Is there no way the recipes can be released as an ebook? I'm struggling to come up with ideas for my first raw Christmas in amongst a 'cooked' family.

Wow, I wish I lived in the UK, you have so many great events and workshops! This looks fabulous! How often do you do events in the US? I am in upstate NY and would love to attend something in NYC if you have anything come up.
From Karen: Hi Liz :) I rarely do events in the US for two main reasons - 1) I am super busy in the UK and 2) I have a 5 year old son in school.... BUT... I know that Russell and I would both love to do an event in the US and both want to visit NY (for me it would be the first time) and so maybe we can set something up one weekend in NY if we find the right space... Something like a Raw Coach & Raw Chef production. It would be a joy! Stay tuned to the eZine!
