Recipe: Sweet "Comfort Milk"
Many thanks to those of you who so far have submitted your suggestions around what topics you'd like to see me covering here.
One of the most common themes from the answers received so far (keep them coming please! - see left hand menu - you get a freebie too) is "quick easy recipes".
Well, tonight I had the craving for a certain something. I knew it was a smoothie, but, what with it being late and tuning in (as you do) to my body, I also knew that I didn't want anything heavy or complicated. Just something kind of dreamy : )
So out came the Vita-Mix, in went one tall glass of water (about a pint), and added in to that went a level Tablespoon of cashew butter and 3 Medjool dates. And that's it!
In it all went. Quick whizz. Poured it out thinking it would probably need something else added to give it more body, but no - perfection in a glass!
I've called this Sweet "Comfort Milk" because it has that soothing, relaxing, pre-bedtime feel about it. It took a minute to make from start to finish and definitely hit the spot.
Try it, why don't you? Let me know what you think!

Brian - you could try macadamias (THE indigenous Australian nut!), a perfect substitute for cashews in this recipe, I'd say! OR almonds of course - less fatty and they actually HELP you sleep!

Hi Brian,
You could try brazil nut or pistachio nut butter, the latter being from the same family as the cashew. I'm sure they would both work well.
And try throwing a banana in with the pistachio, they work really well together!

Cashews are stimulating, not a good choice for just before bed. I forget the precise principle involved, but I always lie awake if I eat anything with cashews too late in the day. Wish I could think of a good substitute. Mmmm... cashews.
